prada ss09 campaign - by hedi slimane.

i just read that the latest prada men's campaign was photographed by the previous dior homme designer hedi slimane. i originally thought the photos didnt look much like prada or the collection and i guess this explains it. the images are very quietly dramatic and after finding out mr slimane photographed them i think it quite surprising for one label to have a competitive label's ex designer shoot their ads and not have it look like their own brand. however prada has always been known to be unpredictable. either way its nice to see ads in a magazine look like this than a heavily marketed campaign. not that this isnt but they dont really focus on the clothing as most do.

for the full campaign visit prada.com.

hussein chalayan exhibition - design museum.

i thought i would take a break from postings on berlin and show this exhibition i had been meaning to see. hes an award-winning british designer who really explores a subject im quite interested in myself. futurism. some of his clothing border on a style thats "uniform-like" which again im quite fond of. him most famous collection is probably spring summer 07 where he incorporates mechanical technology to allow his clothing to transform. anyways this is some of the exhibition.

berlin - landmarks - reichstag cathedral and tv tower.

berlin - architecture - frank gehry dz bank side 2.

berlin - architecture - frank gehry dz bank side 1.

one of my favorite architects i was excited to see another of his buildings but more specifically the interior of this dz bank. however the day i ended up finding it was a day the building was closed. but the exterior is still quite grand. the front side of the building is very minimal and easy to miss but the back has the signature gehry style. enjoy.

berlin - holocaust memorial.

berlin - friedrichshain - graffiti.

berlin - friedrichshain - small streets.

berlin - friedrichshain - architecture - theatre.

berlin - friedrichshain - karl-marx allee.

in eastern berlin along karl-marx allee there is the vision of a communist world that germany could of become. on this wide street are huge communist buildings with identical counterparts across the boulevard. even though the streets were quite quiet the sight and feel of this city planning is out of this world.
