vancouver - architecture on hold.

a project that ive been quite excited about in vancouver is the norman foster designed jameson house. the project has been started but has been put on hold along with the closure of vancouver's ritz carlton as a result of the international financial problem. currently they are looking for a new investor as one has pulled out of the $180 million project. i really hope this development goes through because the design of the building is quite unique compared to the rest of the architecture in vancouver.  

the building has a lot of benchmarks attached to it such as being the first mixed-use residential building for north america designed by the international foster and partner, having north america's first mechanized underground parkade, and being vancouver's first building to feature a bio-diesel cogeneration plant. 

the design of the building is designed around its environment working with wind movement and sun exposure for both heating and cooling of the building and capturing solar energy. i think the result of whether this building gets built will speak a lot about vancouver's design future.
